CYCLONE NARGIS
Cyclone Nargis hit the coast of Myanmar (formerly Burma) on 2nd May 2008, killing at least 70,000 people. The exact figures are unknown, largely because of the Burmese government's refusal to allow outside NGOs into the country, but the UN has estimated that 1.5 million people were "severely affected" by this cyclone.

How Global Compassion is helping
Global Compassion is contributing financially to the work of one of our partners which has a network of workers operating within Myanmar. Because of the political situation in Myanmar we cannot disclose much information about the project, but we are working to provide food, safe drinking water, shelter, medical support and basic living necessities to those affected by Cyclone Nargis.
