CONTAINER SENDING MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO KHATMANDU, NEPAL
After months of organisation by Global Compassion’s partners in U.K., Nepal and Australia, a shipping container full of donated medical equipment was finally loaded onto a container ship bound for India from the docks of Brisbane, Australia.
The ship is currently en route to Calcutta, India, from where it will be trucked overland to Kathmandu, Nepal. Included in the cargo manifest, which is worth £100,000 are two modern dental chairs, an examination bed, 235 boxes of medical supplies and equipment containing everything from hospital bed sheets, surgical gowns and masks to 30,000 pairs of graded spectacles.
The container is bound for a private hospital in Kathmandu that offers its services to all in the community who require free medical attention. The installation of the dental chairs in the hospital will make a huge difference to the quality of the facilities and treatment on offer. |
